Palma Nova lies in a horseshoe bay of golden sand beaches. Alongside these beaches is a lively promenade lined with bars and restaurants. This area buzzes with life once the sun goes down but at a much slower pace.
Palma Nova is one of the most popular resorts in Majorca but more family friendly than it’s neighbour Magaluf. Here children can paddle in the shallow waters of the bay while adults top up their tans. Many will sip cocktails in the promenade beach bars.
The bay comprises a trio of beaches and a small marina. The more adventurous can enjoy many water sports and activities. Separating the town from Magaluf is the Punta de Sa Porrassa residential area. Here you will find many small coves perfect for snorkelling.
Palma Nova Attractions Things to do
Behind the main beach next to the marina (picture above), the fun continues. Here you will find one of the best mini golf parks in the Balearic’s. Golf Fantasia boasts three 18 hole mini courses with super features. These include ponds with colourful fish, ducks, bridges, a cave, waterfall and a river.
The courses meander their way through the beautiful park. Here, due to pretty lighting, people can also enjoy the views at night. Some good advice for the golf course is to book through your hotel to save money.
For a bit more of an adrenaline thrill when visiting Palma Nova, head over to Magaluf. Here the young ones can enjoy Aqualand or Western Park aqua park for as little as 12 €. There is also a professional class go-kart track.
Main Resort Beach
Palmanova is the main beach here which is 1 kilometre in length with golden sand. Lining the beach is a pretty promenade with lots of bars and restaurants. The promenade is also popular for a relaxing walk while taking in the views out to sea. There is also a marina here where you will see plenty of boats in the clear turquoise waters.
The beach itself is always clean and has people cleaning it several times a day. Running alongside the promenade or a short distance away are many hotels. MSH Mallorca is one such adult only hotel. If you are staying in Palma Nova there is a good chance you only be a short walk from the beach. There are good facilities to rent here and lots of watersports on offer also.
Map of Palma Nova
Palma Nova lies in the southwest of Majorca 14 km´s west of Palma. To the south are Torrenova and Magaluf.
History & Entertainment
A bit of history and culture can be had in the island’s capital Palma which is only a 14 kilometre drive from Palma Nova. Here you can explore the city’s hilltop castle and Gothic cathedral (picture above). The surrounding cobbled streets lead to parks and plazas. These areas boast many monuments, churches and museums. There is also good variety of cafes, bars and restaurants to stop for refreshments. Here you can relax while the world goes by.
Bars & Restaurants
There is a good selection of bars and restaurants around the resort but much more laid back. This is a stark contrast to Magaluf for example which is famous for it´s nightlife. The bars and restaurants here suit those looking for a night out without all the noise. A few to look out for are The Sunset Bar, Crazy Joe´s and Monroes.
